Twitter is surveying some of its users about their experience with the service. Improving the user experience is certainly always top of mind with the company, which struggles quarter after quarter with user growth – something that has become a major problem for it since it went public.
The survey begins by showing the user 10 tweets, randomly selected from public accounts they follow and asking related questions.
The entire survey basically repeats what you see above with different tweets from different sources. They appeared to mainly use different URL shorteners, which might be what Twitter is looking at more closely here, but I can’t say for sure.
Each tweet shown included an image. Some had hashtags, while others didn’t. Some included @mentions while others didn’t.
I’m sure it’s not uncommon for Twitter to conduct surveys like this with groups of users, but figured I’d share what I was seeing.
“We conduct research to better understand our users and to improve our products,” Twitter says on a page that isn’t actually working at the time of this writing (I used Google’s cache feature). “There are many different types of users (including businesses, developers, and non-Twitter users) in many different countries influencing our products through the feedback they provide in our studies.”
I should note that the account that received the survey was the official WPN account.
Twitter only grew by an underwhelming 3 million monthly active users from Q2 to Q3. During its most recent earnings call, the company discussed its new Moments feature as the first of a series of new features it hopes will lead to faster growth.
